Definition Headache

Headache is a pain in the head and neck caused by a variety of causes. Headache is the result of interference on structures sensitives topain in the head and neck, the sclap, the underground network of fat head, the muscles of the head and neck, blood vessels, eyes, ears, teeth, sinuses, throat sectionabove, and nerves in the head.

Headache is divided into primary headache (without other specific causes) and secondary headache (due to other abnormalities in the head / neck). Primary headache cosisting of migranine, tension-type headache, cluster headache type, and headache due to a nervous breakdown on face. Tension type headache are primary headaches are most frequently encountered. Secondary headache associated with injury to the head / neck, circulatory disorders, use of drugs, infectio, blood disorders, psychiatric disorders, and other disorders of pain sensitive structures.

SYMPTOM
  • MIGRAINE
 Symptoms of migraine vary among patients, There are 4 phase that are common in migraine sufferers, but not all of this phase should always be experienced by patients :
  1. The first phase (phase prodormal) experience by 40-60% of patients, such as mood swings, anxiety, became irritability, depression, weakness, fatique, lethargy, excerssive sleeping, desire for certain foods, and other symptoms. These symptoms appear a few hours or day before the headache phase.
  2. The second phase (phase aura) experienced by 64% patients is the phase  in wuch symptoms involving specific innervation (called an aura). This phase appears gradually 5-20 minutes prior to the onset of headache, lasts for 5-60 minutes and can dissapear completely. Symptoms can incluide visual symptoms (flashing light, spots, stripes, loss of vision). Symptoms related to the sensory nerves (numbness, loss of taste, flavour punctured) or speech disorder sy,ptoms. The presence of symptoms in patients before any preliminary migraine headache called classic migraine, while migraine without preliminary symptoms is called common migraine. Common migraine is more common than classic migraines. 
  3. In the third phase (phase headache), patients feel pain in one side of the head throbbing. Headache is felt moderate to severe, current, and lasts for 4-72 hours. Migraine headaches worsened by physical activity such as walking / climbing stairs. during headaches, sufferers often feel nausea with or without vomiting, and sensitive to sound and light.
  4. The fourth phase (phase postdormal) experienced headaches after missing, namely in the form of fatique, irritability, impaired concentration, and mood swings. However some people may feel "fresh" after the attack, while others feel depressed and weak.
TENSION TYPE HEADACHE
 This type of headache is felt on both sides of the head and feels depressed / tied rope (not pulsed). Headache is felt mild to moderate, repeat, do not worsen with physical activity and not accompanied by nausea. However, it can be found sensitivity to light or sound. Tension type headache can last form 30 minutes to 7 days.

CLUSTER HEADACHE
Cluster headaches are severe headaches, people always feel pain on the one hand around the eyeball, above the eyes, temple, or a combination of these places. It can last form 15-180 minutes. These headaches can be repeated with a frequency of every 1 time every tow days, up to 8 times / days. headache attacks are often a accompained by one or more of the following symptoms : watery eyes, red eyes, eyes hard to open, eyelid swelling, nasal congestion, runny nose, forehead of face sweating, and anxiety.

SECONDARY HEADACHE
Secondary headache symptoms are not specific. Called secondary headache because it is caused by other causes. Therefore, when the onset of headache adjacent to tehknown causes. Secondary headaches diminished or dissapeared within 3 months (or sooner) after the initial cause is treated.

There is a danger that some of the symptoms showed the need for further examination by a general practitioner or a medical specialist, such as : headache emerging or headaches with different characteristics than previously in patients above 50 years of age, Headaches that arise quickly in a few minutes (thunderclap headache), headache accompained by an inability to move the limbs, loss of consciousness, headaches that wake the patient form sleep, headache worsened during changes in body position / cough / straining, visual impairment: neck rigidity / fever / headache in patients with AIDS or cancer.

Headache within minutes can be a symptoms of brain hemorrhage. headache accompained by a fever is one of the symptoms of meningitis, especially if accompanied by an inability of the neck to bend forward. Headache that worsens when a change in position / cough / straining can be caused by increased pressure in the brain (found in brain tumors, encephalitis, brain hemorrhage). Inability to move the limbs showed the possibility of a stroke or brain tumor. Headaches in the elderly, specially if accompanied by visual disturbances and inability to open  the mouth suggests the possibility of large boold vessel inflammation. Acute glaucoma (increased eye pressure) also showed symptoms of headache around the eyes, visual disturbances, vomiting and red eyes.
